Sandy Gard
Reiki found Sandy in 2011 when she was experiencing a significant health challenge. Sandy was guided to learn Reiki and was attuned as a Reiki Master Teacher (2014) after experiencing many benefits in her personal life, most notably in managing anxiety. In 2020, Sandy was attuned by the renowned William Lee Rand of the International Center for Reiki Training to teach Reiki online to accommodate the challenges of COVID-19. Sandy understands the benefit of bridging her skills as an Associate Addictions Counsellor with the practice of Reiki to fully support her clients from a mind, body, spirit perspective.
HOW REIKI CAN BENEFIT ADDICTIONS RECOVERY:
Stress Reduction:
Reiki is known for inducing a state of deep relaxation, which can help individuals manage stress and anxiety. Stress is often a contributing factor to the development and continuation of addictive behaviours, and reducing stress levels may positively impact addiction recovery.
Balancing Energy Flow:
According to Reiki philosophy, imbalances in the body's energy flow
can contribute to physical and emotional issues. By restoring balance and harmony to the energy system, Reiki may help alleviate some of the underlying causes of addictive behaviours.
Promoting Self-awareness:
Reiki encourages individuals to be more in tune with their own bodies and emotions. This heightened self-awareness can be valuable in addiction recovery by helping individuals recognize triggers, cravings, and emotional patterns associated with their
addictive behaviours.
Enhancing Emotional Well-being:
Addiction often involves complex emotional issues such as trauma, guilt, shame, and low self-esteem. Reiki may contribute to emotional healing by creating a supportive space for individuals to process and release these emotions.
Complementary Approach:
Reiki is often used as a complementary therapy alongside conventional addiction treatment methods. Integrating Reiki into a holistic treatment plan may provide individuals with additional tools for managing cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and the overall challenges of recovery.
Improved Sleep:
Many individuals with addiction issues also struggle with sleep disturbances.
Reiki's calming effect may promote better sleep quality, which is crucial for overall well-being and recovery.
